Soot particle size distribution measurements in a turbulent ethylene swirl flame

چکیده
There is a need to better understand particle size distributions (PSDs) from turbulent flames theoretical, practical and even regulatory perspective. Experiments were conducted on sooting non-premixed swirled ethylene flame with secondary (dilution) air injection investigate exhaust in-burner PSDs measured Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer (SMPS) soot volume fractions (fv) using extinction measurements. The focus was the effect of systematically changing amount location dilution fv inside burner at exhaust. also compared planar Laser Induced Incandescence (LII) calibrated against average fv. LII provides some supplemental information relative amounts spatial distribution among various flow conditions that helps interpret results. For no dilution, drops gradually along centreline towards PSD shows shift larger particles smaller. However, reduces sharply where jets meet axis. Downstream remain unchanged until At exhaust, significantly more an one two orders magnitude greater Cases dilution. This dataset insights into within relevance gas turbine combustion differing parameters has size. Additionally, this work measures both ex situ in techniques, highlights difficulties associated comparing results across two. are useful for validating advanced models combustion.

Temperature, Oxygen, and Soot-Volume- Fraction Measurements in a Turbulent C2H4-Fueled Jet Flame
We present a detailed set of measurements from a piloted, sooting, turbulent C2H4fueled diffusion flame. Hybrid femtosecond/picosecond coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) is used to monitor temperature and oxygen, while laser-induced incandescence (LII) is applied for imaging of the soot volume fraction in the challenging jet-flame environment at Reynolds number, Re = 20,000. Single-la...

Soot concentration distribution is investigated both numerically and experimentally in methane-air diffusion flame. The experimental work is conducted with a cylindrical swirl stabilized combustor. Filter paper technique is used to measure soot volume fraction inside the combustor. The numerical simulation is based on the solution of the fully-coupled conservation equations for swirling turbule...

متن کاملTransient soot dynamics in turbulent nonpremixed ethylene–air counterflow flames
The dynamics of soot formation in turbulent ethylene–air nonpremixed counterflow flames is studied using direct numerical simulation (DNS) with a semi-empirical soot model and the discrete ordinate method (DOM) as a radiation solver. Transient characteristics of soot behavior are studies by a model problem of flame interaction with turbulence inflow at various intensities. The interaction betwe...
